Utopia And The Night
What is Utopia? Interestingly the root of the word Utopia is from Greek and means “not place” or "non-place". Does that mean that Utopian ideas can only be aspired to and not lived by?
Neta Pulvermacher explores this question through her experiential participatory performance “Utopia and the Night” offering an immersive ride through the utopian/dystopian world of the children’s houses – where she and generations of kibbutz children were raised communally from the early 1930’s to the late 1990’s.
For the duration of the event audience become a group of equal peers, a“Kvutza” with all the paradoxes and impossibilities that this quest brings. We will wear the same clothes, share “meals”, story time, work time, bed time, a rehearsal for a kibbutz play, a night walk, a dream, a song, a dance, a celebration and more).
